Welcome to the Good Friday Service!
Message Notes
WHY GOOD FRIDAY MATTERS
When Jesus entered our world, it was motivated by love. When Jesus walked the earth teaching, healing, delivering, discipling, it was motivated by love. When Jesus hung on the cross, it was motivated by love. When Jesus rose from the grave, it was motivated by love. When Jesus promised to return, it was motivated by love.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
Jesus’ death, motivated by His love for us, confronts our doubts and the lies we've believed. Jesus’ death shows us that God is even more committed to us than we are to Him—that He cares more about us than we often care about Him. But the question remains, what will your response be? What will you do with all of that love? Waste it, or receive it?
Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, motivated by His love for you, qualifies you to come into God’s presence.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:31-39).
JESUS OFFERS PEACE
Peace with God (spiritual peace).
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” (Romans 5:1).
Peace with ourselves (internal peace).
“Peace to you” (John 20:21). Christ died and then rose from the dead to be able to supernaturally impart peace to you and me.
Peace with others (external peace).
“I have told you these things so that in me, you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
GLORIOUS DAY
I was buried beneath my shame
Who could carry that kind of weight
It was my tomb 'til I met You
I was breathing but not alive
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb 'til I met You
When You called my name
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
Now Your mercy has saved my soul
Now Your freedom is all that I know
The old made new Jesus when I met You
When You called my name
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
I needed rescue my sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter I was an orphan
Now You call me a citizen of Heaven
When I was broken You were my healing
Now Your love is the air that I'm breathing
I have a future my eyes are open
When You called my name
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day

MY JESUS
Are you past the point of weary
Is your burden weighing heavy
Is it all too much to carry
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
Do you feel that empty feeling
'Cause shame's done all its stealing
And you're desperate for some healing
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
Amen amen
Who can wipe away the tears
From broken dreams and wasted years
And tell the past to disappear
Oh and let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And all the wrong turns that you would
Go and undo if you could
Who can work it all for your good
Let me tell you about my Jesus
He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life
Who would take my cross to Calvary
Pay the price for all my guilty
Who would care that much about me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus oh
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
Amen amen
He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
Amen amen

SEE A VICTORY
The weapon may be formed but it won’t prosper
When the darkness falls it won’t prevail
Cause the God I serve knows only how to triumph
My God will never fail
My God will never fail
I’m gonna see a victory
I’m gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
I’m gonna see a victory
I’m gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
There’s power in the mighty Name of Jesus
Every war He wages He will win
I’m not backing down from any giant
I know how this story ends
I know how this story ends
I’m gonna see a victory
I’m gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
I’m gonna see a victory
I’m gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
You take what the enemy meant for evil
And You turn it for good
You turn it for good
You take what the enemy meant for evil
And You turn it for good
You turn it for good
I’m gonna see a victory
I’m gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
I’m gonna see a victory
I’m gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord

KING OF MY HEART
Let the King of my heart
Be the mountain where I run
The fountain I drink from
Oh He is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the shadow where I hide
The ransom for my life
Oh He is my song
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
Let the King of my heart
Be the wind inside my sails
The anchor in the waves
Oh He is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the fire inside my veins
The echo of my days
Oh He is my song
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You're never gonna let
Never gonna let me down
You're never gonna let
Never gonna let me down
You're never gonna let
Never gonna let me down
You're never gonna let
Never gonna let me down
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
